• Discipline of Dietetics and Human Nutrition

    ABOUT THE DISCIPLINE

Dietitians play a key role in creating a healthier world through science-driven nutrition care. Dietitians promote health, and prevent and manage disease conditions, through comprehensive dietary strategies. They assess nutritional needs, provide dietary management, support hospitalized patients requiring specialized nutrition, and design community-based nutrition programmes. The four-year Bachelor of Science In Dietetics and Human Nutrition equips students with essential knowledge and practical skills through clinical placements and community outreach, preparing them to make a positive impact in various settings. Graduates, once registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), can work in the public or private sectors as well as in private practice.
