BIOSKETCH
Dr Nontokozo Mbatha is a lecturer in the Speech-Language Therapy Department at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is an experienced speech-language therapist with over 17 years of experience in the public sector, serving individuals with disabilities across the lifespan. Her expertise includes working in multidisciplinary allied health teams. In 2022, she transitioned to academia, joining UKZN as a lecturer, where she teaches undergraduate students and supervises their clinical practice and research projects. Her research focuses on childhood disability, learning disabilities in school-age children, parental self-efficacy, and interventions to support caregivers of children with developmental disabilities. She has a particular passion for learning disabilities and children with cerebral palsy. She has also published research on parental stress among parents raising children with disabilities. She is eager to collaborate with other researchers in speech-language therapy, disability studies, and public health.
