Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management
OVERVIEW
This program is designed to strengthen and deepen the student’s knowledge and skills in the field of health service management. The program fosters innovation and creativity in nursing managers, producing graduates who can effectively use problem-solving skills to influence clinical practice, service delivery, and policy and effect change as nurse leaders. As nurse leaders
and managers, they will be able to use the outcomes of current research and/or evaluation studies as a foundation for their
own evidence-based practice, decision-making, and policy-making.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing OR Bachelor of Nursing Honours Degree OR an Advanced Diploma at NQF Level 7 OR Equivalent Qualification.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Midwifery (R425 or R174) OR a comprehensive Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery (R425)
- OR a Diploma in Nursing (R683) and a Diploma in Midwifery (R254) OR a Diploma: Staff Nurse (General) R171 and including an Advanced Diploma: Midwifery (R1427).
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a General Nurse, Midwife /accoucheur
- Have two years’ post-basic experience, excluding the Community Service year, in relevant health services setting.
- In cases of international students, SANC requirements and SAQA and/or HESA verification processes shall be followed.
- Computer literacy.
- International students require limited registration with SANC to facilitate clinical placement.
