OVERVIEW
Pharmacy is a dynamic, information-driven, product- and patient-oriented profession, committed to meeting the health care needs of all health-seeking communities. The Bachelor of Pharmacy degree is a four-year programme, followed by a year of internship and a compulsory year of community service, before registration with the South African Pharmacy Council as a pharmacist. The pharmacist, through inculcated competence and skills during the Bachelor’s of Pharmacy degree and the Pharmacy Internship is committed to meeting the health care needs of all health-seeking communities by being the,
  • Custodian of medicines.
  • Formulator, manufacturer, distributor and controller of safe, effective, and quality medicine.
  • Advisor on the safe, rational and appropriate use of medicine.
  • Provider of essential clinical services including screening and referral services.
  • Provider of health care education and information.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a degree pass Minimum subject requirements:
  • English (Home Language or First Additional Language) – Level 4
  • Life Sciences – Level 4
  • Life Orientation – Level 4
  • Mathematics – Level 3
  • Physical Sciences- level 4 (Choices 1 to 3 only)
