Joanne Lerwick holds a BSc in Dietetics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Dietetics, both from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Pietermaritzburg. With several years of experience in organizational management, she has played a key role in supporting corporate leadership and overseeing catering operations in both private and public sectors.
Joanne has a special interest in Menu Planning & Analysis, Training, Hygiene Education, HACCP, Food Service Policy and System Development and Implementation.
She joined UKZN in 2012 and is currently the Teaching Assistant (Food Service Management), which involves lecturing, mentoring and tutoring fourth year BSc. Dietetic students. Her expertise includes student Work Integrated Learning (WIL) planning and placement co-ordination, continuous student assessments and program development to ensure excellent student outcomes.
Joanne has contributed to the success of two Department of Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) audits and developed the new module template for the fourth year Food Service Management Module, aligning it with the new Dietetics Nutrition degree.
